Overview

Overview: Azilal Beni Mguild Rug

A stunning hybrid of heritage and artistry, the Azilal Beni Mguild rug is a poetic reinterpretation of two celebrated Moroccan weaving traditions. This rug marries the exuberant symbolism of Azilal rugs—known for their densely patterned, tribal-inspired geometry—with the bold color palettes and layered textures of the Beni Mguild weavings from Morocco’s Middle Atlas mountains.

Traditionally hand-knotted in Afghanistan using 100% wool, these reinterpretations celebrate Moroccan design while adding their own regional craftsmanship. The deep terracotta, clay reds, burnt orange, and accents of turquoise and ivory reflect the deep tones found in vintage Beni Mguild rugs, often originally dyed with natural indigo or madder root.

Meanwhile, the rhythmic, horizontal banding of tribal motifs and diamond medallions echoes the artistic spontaneity of Azilal weaving traditions, where no two rugs are ever quite alike.

The result? A rug that feels at once timeless and adventurous, equally at home in rustic interiors or modern bohemian spaces. Each one is more than a floor covering—it's a woven tale of two cultures, blended with skill and soul.
